A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after that period of that year.

The win also means he has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on court had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a close final set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
